Media international launched the Call for Applications for the internship program in the institution (Cultural Programs Office) and at three of its clients which are IslamOnline.net (English and Arabic websites); in pages and sections as European Muslims, Radio and News Desk and ReadingIslam.net (English Website) and Islamyoon.net (Arabic website).

Deadline for applying for this call was 15th November 2009 and it is planned to arrange other calls in the future.

This is considered as the second stage of the internship Program as the first stage was in summer 2009 where we received Interns from United States of America, Belarus and Czech Republic.

First stage:

The First stage was in summer 2009 where   Interns from United States of America, Belarus and Czech Republic had their internship at the Cultural Programs Office and the European Muslims page in IslamOnline.net Website.

1. Rebecca Mcvaugh an American international Relations and Cross Cultural Studies student at Messiah College had her internship in the Cultural Programs Office.
2. Saida Ibrahimava a belarussian international Economy and Political Studies master degree holder from Charles University in Prague had her internship in the Cultural Programs Office.
3. Michal Ondereco a Slovak International Politics and History Graduate of Jacob University in Germany had his internship at the European Muslims Page in Isalmoline.net Website. 
   

Second Stage:

• Relevant experience related to the Euro-Med region will be an asset.

1. European Muslims Page

General Requirements/ Stipulated Qualifications

• An interest in the ethnic minorities in the West and an interest in developing journalistic skills
• A basic background or previous experience in topics related to European Muslims, intercultural dialogues, multiculturalism, ethnic minorities in Europe, Islamophobia in the West, etc
• Excellent command of the English language, especially writing skills
• Basic computer and Internet skills
• At least one year experience in online or printed media is highly recommended
• Basic in-depth research skills
• A committed and responsible person

Main Responsibilities/ Tasks Entailed

• Attending the department's internal meetings where he/she is supposed to discus the current issues and the angels suggested for covering them with the department's members
• Conducting researches on European Muslims related  topics based on the department's requirements
• Helping the European Muslims department to reach out to new uncovered European countries and investigate into the status of the Muslim minorities in these countries
• Assisting in the preparation of the department's seminars, research papers, special folders, and online campaigns
• Preparing reports related to the department's activities
• Making use of the department's contacts and correspondents and working on adding new valuable contacts to the department's network
• Corresponding with the department's contacts and correspondents
• Following up the department's editorial plan
• Participating in the editorial process under the supervision of the department editor
• Preparing edited articles for the uploading process
• Learning the basics of writing and editing
• Providing ideas for the department's various projects
• Following the daily news to provide ideas for producing material and to update IslamOnline.net (IOL)'s European Muslims Weekly Brief
• Interacting with other IslamOnline.net departments in matters related to the European Muslims Department, including attending editorial meetings
• Suggesting topics and guests for live dialogues and moderating live dialogues
• Suggesting topics for the European Muslims discussion forums, posting topics, and interacting with the readers in the forums
• Participating in the department's offline activities including attending events and conferences related to the department's interests. This may include travel

• Will assist in liasing with correspondents
• Will assist in editing programs

• Have an appropriate BA degree in E-marketing, Web Management/design, or any related topic ( a university senior may be acceptable)

• Some knowledge of Islamic belief and Muslims is a plus
• Good command of English

• Assist in designing creative ideas to enhance the website’s design
• Propose ideas to increase the viewing traffic and marketing.
• Assist in formulating these ideas into project proposals.
• Propose interactive designs with the views to increase contacts.
• Be very familiar with interactive websites like, Face Book, Twitter, second life etc., and make proposals for increased viewership and membership.
• Prepare any reports related to the website’s activities as required.
